PROCEDURE CLASSROOM ACTION RESEARCH IN 2 CYCLES IN MIND MAPPING

In this Classroom Action Research (CAR), the writer used the CAR principle with some cycle in procedure planning, action, observation, and reflection.

1.      Cycle 1

a)  


Planning

1)      In this section, the teacher prepares to the material about reading comprehension will give to the students ( the passage).

2)      The teacher makes lesson planning for the first meeting, the second meeting, the third meeting, and the fourth meeting about reading comprehension material.

3)      Making observation paper. The observer will observe research subject for one week namely pre-action. The observer will analyze the student reading comprehension in learning English in order to apply the method well.

4)      Making research instrument.

b)  Action

1)      Use a central image and emphasize that image by using variations in size of printing and color.

2)    Use arrows when you want to make connections within and across branch patterns.

3)        Be clear and use only one key word per line.

4)        Develop a personal style, while maintaining the mind map.

5)        Use hierarchy and categorization in the form of basic ordering of ideas

6)        Use a numerical order simply by numbering the brunches in the desired order.

 

c)   Observation

Basically, the step of observation will do since research by using observation paper that has made. Things observation as follow:

1)      Students’ are participation and response during teaching and learning process.

2)      Students’ are competence in reading text.

B.  Reflection

After collecting the data, the observer evaluated the teaching learning process. Then, do reflection by seeing the result of the observation,  whether the teacher learning  process of improving reading comprehension through cooperative integrative reading and composition  Mind  Mapping technique reaches success criteria based on the test result of first action.

2.  Cycle II

a)   Planning

In this phase, the observer will makes:

1)      Continue the activities that have done in the first cycle.

2)      Improve the weekness in the first cycle.

3)      Make planning against in the scenario earning process from the result of the cycle 1.

4)      Action research repair

b)  Action

C. Reflection

In this second cycle, the observer makes conclusion of the applied Mind Mapping technique in improving students’ reading comprehension at the (school)
